New Server and end of Firefox Preloader
I know it has been a long time since I’ve updated Glasser. This has been compounded by loosing access to my server because of a bad update that killed SSH, but also work and getting a new server set up has slowed it.
I will admit that Firefox Preloader is kind of pointless to maintain now, there is just little need for it anymore. I will release a fix for Glasser soon, but only for 32-bit Firefox, before Thanksgiving. I hope to have my new server up next year.

Yesterday, Mozilla released the Release Candidate for Firefox 3.6. This release of 3.6 fixes more than 70 (Bugzilla reports 98) bugs since Firefox Beta 3.6 (revision 5).

Today, Mac users can now enjoy the Firefox 4.0 look on Firefox 3.6. With the release of Firefox 3.6 close, this theme will be a nice addition to it’s release. To top it off, this theme support the Strata Home Tab extension to complete the look.

I’ve been running the betas of Firefox 3.6 my MacBook Pro and my Windows 7 PC, and both seem to have been doing pretty well with it. Looks really good so far, but it seems Mozilla says there is still work to be done.

Hi Matthew, I was very pleased to have found something to speed my firefox opening which is incredibally slow compared to chrome or IE, and the only thing that spoils it. Anyway , I am just about to try Preloader and hope it does the job of speeding it up. I think its definately needed unless I can fined another way to speef FF opening !(Firefox3.5.4) Thanks Simon

What are you talking about? Default Firefox STILL takes a few seconds to load after the process has been killed. With preloader it takes less than a second. Please consider updating Firefox Preloader.

I also still use the preloader, primarily because Firefox has problems opening quickly after my computer is on standby. There still seems to be a good amount of people out there using it…

same just do the update. This little app is so needed by huge part of firefox community even now when its 3.5 its so damn slow to load.

Agree with the above posts… Firefox needs the preloader as much as it ever has! It seems to be working, but please consider resuming development!

I just setup a PC for my Mom and the PC is a P4, 1GB of memory system……
Firefox 3.6 RC1 is slightly faster than 3.5 but still can hang when starting.
I just installed pre-loader and it loads much faster.
So don’t think people don’t need pre-loader. In fact in needs to be built in. Slower PCs need it.
I use Mozilla Weave as we have a PC in the living room & Grease Monkey, Downthemall, Secure login and sometimes Adblock Plus when a sites ads ruins the content on it.
Unless another browser works faster on slower hardware and offers all these features….Then firefox is still useful……
You said Minimize To Tray is the same thing in another blog? I think that doesn’t support loading of the browser at start up? Which pre-loader does.
So please see if you can build this in or update it if there is any issues.

I’ve been using the preloader for 3 years now i think. installed it on hundreds of installations over the year. all my family and my friends are “preloaded” haha. you did amazing work there buddy. i hate it when something needs more than a second to start. you made this possible. instant startup. please continue to develop this. it fucking awesome!!!
