I’ve been running the betas of Firefox 3.6 my MacBook Pro and my Windows 7 PC, and both seem to have been doing pretty well with it. Looks really good so far, but it seems Mozilla says there is still work to be done.

Overall, Firefox 3.6 doesn’t really show off any new features at first, but there are some really good things for web and theme developers and users will now have a more stable browsing experience. For web and theme developers, Firefox 3.6 will now include the new gradient and multi-image background.  The web developers get event more with the new HTML5 file API, WOFF font support, and a few new CSS3 properties for the new HTML5 video features. Also the asynchronous scripts will let web site owner make their sites feel more responsive.

Users will now be alerted about out-of-date plug-ins and, extensions and XPCOM components are now being kept out of the main Firefox data.  This should improve the stability and security of Firefox in the next version.  Another nice addition is the inclusion of Personas which gives users a quick way to change the look of Firefox without having to restart the browser.

On top of those new feature, many performance improvements have been made to the JavaScript engine.  Something that has been a big focus of marketing in the world of web browser software lately.  Good to see Mozilla is really stepping up its game.
