Smooth Alternative WB goes Gold and a Firefox Skin

I have not released the Smooth Alternative Firefox skin plus the WindowBlinds skin release has now been declared a final release, it’s gone Gold!

It is finally here, Smooth Alternative, a new version of the WindowBlinds skin by pAntoni from Enhanced’s Longhorn Alternative GUI Kit.

Smooth Alternative BETA 1

I am going to release the first beta of Smooth Alternative. Here are a list of changes in Smooth Alternative 1.0[B]1 since Longhorn Alternative 1.5:
- New Glossy Orb Start Button
- Translucent StartPanel with blur effect
- New hilight/hover color is now blue instead of orange
- Taskbar button now turn dark when active, pressed, or hovered over
- Horizonal shell style layout by Kol (permission still pending)
- Per-pixel borders provide smooth edges for the window frames
- The round buttons have been replaced by Krezno’s square LhA button
- Recolored all orange components to blue
- New per-pixel and classic shutdown/logoff dialogs
- New Please Wait dialog
Even with all this there still more to do:
- Logoff and shutdown buttons on the Start Panel need to be updated to the new button style (seen in thier dialogs>
- Some Shellstyle graphics aren’t sized to match the new shell style
- New WindowBlinds toolbar set will be created

Smooth Alternative Beta 1
Smooth Alternative Buttons

I have created a mock up of the candidates for the new LhA/Smooth Alternative toolbar buttons for Windows Explorer and Mozilla Firefox. I haven’t decided on what will be the final color used, but I’m still open to suggestions.
Another Longhorn/Smooth Alternatice Update

I have another update to the Smooth Alternative status. I have not added WindowBlinds 5’s per-pixel border feature to the skin to smooth the rounded corners. I have also made the following changes.
- Replaced the round buttons with the square buttons from Krezno’s LhA Visual Style.
- Replaced the Start button with a round (Vista pearl style) button with the Enhanced Labs logo.
- Made the black background of the Start Panel translucent and applied the blur effect to it.
I will be posting the first beta of the new Smooth Alternative WindowBlinds skin soon. I hope to resurrect the entire GUI Kit one day soon.
Longhorn Alternative Improvements.
Update on Longhorn Alternative

Well, I have gotten in touch with Mike from Enhanced Labs and I am currently working on a new version of the Longhorn Alternative WindowBlinds skin. At the moment I am updating the Standard (Lite) version only, but will move to the Dark and Extra and may add a new version called Inverted (A reverse of the Lite’s colors)
I am having to make several changes to the skin, such as removing the Windows flag logo from the skin and changing the fonts from Segoe UI to Tahoma. I may will release a beta version as soon as the minimal problems that triggered Microsoft’s legal threat to the skin are removed. I am also optimizing the skin and changing a few things to make it more friendly with other application such as legacy VB apps and Firefox.
I will also be updating the Firefox skin for LhA after I am finished with the WB skin. Also the new name for LhA has not be decided upon, or that it will even change but the codename for the new version is dubbed “Smooth Alternative”
